Mr. Bert Hofman was born in The Hague, the Netherlands and spent his childhood in Curaçao and several towns in the Netherlands. Bert attended law school at the University of Leiden (RUL), where he graduated in 1978 with a masters in Civil Law.
Bert made a career as a civil servant in the legal field within the Dutch ministries of Defense and of Transport & Public Works. During his career he became specialized in administrative law and legislative services.
In 1995 Bert moved to Sint Maarten and over the next 10 years he supported and advised the Island Territory of Sint Maarten as a legal specialist. As such he also served as interim head of the Legal Department for a few years.
In 2005, Bert started Bermon Law Office & Legislative Services, together with his partner, Monique Hofman, and is presently partner & managing-director of the firm.
Bert is the chairman of the Electoral Council of Sint Maarten and chairman of the Parole Board.
